I don't create without my music! For me some good music is an essential ingredient to the work that I create. So here is a small sampling of some things that I cram into my ears while I'm working.
Oh yes, music is a def. necessity ! I'm a 42 yr. young techno/trance/ambiant lover :) My techno/trance craze grew from my love of what were considered the weirdo singers back in the early 80's --Gary Numan, Japan ( David Sylvian lead singer ), Depeche Mode, The Cure, Cocteau Twins, etc.. I find trance can get me kinda emotional after awhile, thinking about the past and future all together, feeling like I'm not of this world, blah blah blah. So I have to change the station to get me back to myself ! Techno, with a really good beat ( and that wonderful rich sound you might get from Mr.Benassi or Tiesto ) will have me dancing around my art room lol ! Those are the moments when i wish I was 20yrs. younger and learning breakdancing & popping. I can do the robot :D
Hi... my name is Kim Ripley (formerly Sobanski). I am 29 years young and I am from Mount Clemens, MI. My passion lies in art, photography, and creating jewelry. I graduated from Wayne State University in Dec. 2005 with a BFA in photography. I would have to say that I have been an artist my entire life. I think I was born with a crayon in my hand.
When I am not busy creating I enjoy other things. I love thrift stores, antique shops, and yard sales. I have always got my eyes open for strange, tacky, and kitschy things. I am also obsessed with searching out Ebay and Etsy for neato finds!
Which leads me to my next interest- found objects. I collect found items (photos, letters, shopping lists, etc.). I am a huge fan of Found magazine and I even have a 2-page spread of photos and a letter in Dirty Found #2!!
I am currently married to the love of my life~ Joe (we've been together since Nov '99). We have a daughter, Chloe Pearl, who was born in December 2009. We also have one min-pin dog named JoJo.
We hope to make it out to Vegas someday and get out of Michigan.
